IsraelThe 1965 Vatican II Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions Nostra Aetate echoed St. Paul the apostle in affirming that God's gifts and calling to the people of Israel are irrevocable:

God holds the Jews most dear for the sake of their Fathers; He does not repent of the gifts He makes or of the calls He issues-such is the witness of the Apostle. (Nostra Aetate 4; cf. Rom 11:28-29)

But what are these irrevocable "gifts" that God gave to the Jewish people? Many Christians don't realize that the most repeated divine promise in the Hebrew Scriptures (the Old Testament) is God's gift of the Land of Canaan to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—the people of Israel.

In a previous article, Biblical Revelation and the Land of Israel, we discussed some of the Scriptural evidence that supports God's gift of the land to the Jewish people. The present article is a more comprehensive compilation of the Old Testament verses that refer to the divine promise of the land.
